Your worst Nightmare. [Led Astray]
Basics
Character name: Severen

Taken from: Near Dark

Age: ~138 (Appears to be in his mid to late twenties)

Occupation: Drifter

Physical description:
Hair: Black & Shaggy
Build: athletic
Eyes: Brown

Severen typically wears: a leather motorcycle jacket with pins and badges, black leather pants, a white wife-beater tank, a red flannel button down shirt, and cowboy boots that have spurs with sharpened rowels attached.

Vampiric Appearance: He has no fangs, nor is he pale. He is, however, cold to the touch.

Personal effects: Spurs with sharpened rowels, a deck of playing cards, with some extra trump cards to tuck into his sleeves, some cigarettes and a zippo.

Personality: Severen is something of a clown. He often has a smile on his face, and a joke coming from his lips. What good is immortality if you can't enjoy it none? Of course, he does get upset, and he has his pet peeves. Such as Homer's tendency to holler and complain about how old he looks as opposed to how old he is.

Severen revels in what he is without remorse. He has a particularly sadistic streak while hunting. Not content with simply feeding, or killing, he likes to destroy his targets emotionally in the process, on top of terrorizing them. He alternates friendly speech with abusive, prolongs the process more than is necessary, and gives his targets opportunities to attack him. It's not like it'll hurt him any, and he loves the look on their faces when they realise it. Sometimes he'll even pretend they were succeeding. Hamming it up a little, just for shits and giggles.

Severen doesn't really trust, or care about, anyone outside his clan. That familiarity can lead to bickering, and they have the rare privilege of hearing him bitch, moan, cuss and complain. However, he is steadfastly loyal to them. Everyone else can burn, after he's tortured them for fun, and taken their blood.
Strengths//Weaknesses

Strengths: He's good at projecting a likable facade, gaining trust easily, if he wants to. He's just as talented at inspiring fear, unease, and anger, in subtle, and not so subtle, ways. He's got increased strength, speed, heightened senses, and a tendency to heal unnaturally fast due to his vampirism. He has a knack for arson, car theft, and murder. He's a decent shot, not as good as Jesse, but he can manage. His violent tendencies have helped him become an excellent brawler, having over a century and a half's experience. Although he isn't particularly book-smart, he's able to think on his feet, and has a pretty decent intuition when it comes to sizing up situations and people. He is not harmed by garlic, or holy items.

Whether this is a weakness, or a strength, is in the eye of the beholder, but he cheats at poker.

Weaknesses: Direct sunlight damages him very quickly, causing first degree burns in a matter of seconds. Prolonged exposure will kill him; he will catch fire, and eventually undergo not-so-spontaneous inhuman combustion. Decapitation and destruction of the heart are also mortal threats. He cares about the clan, his family, and will risk his life, and endanger himself to protect that, or avenge them.
He is also incredibly arrogant, confident that his near-immortality will protect him from just about any situation that doesn't involve sunlight. He is also confident that once he targets someone, they are not getting away. So he feels free to take his time to torture them, often emotionally as well as physically. When he's actually upset, he's volatile and prone to rash decisions, something that was kept in check by Jesse and Diamondback.
History

Bio: Severen doesn't care too much to remember his mortal life. Just a small town boy, with big dreams, usually involving killing. As he got older, those dreams became a reality. The petty crime that came with it was just a practicality. Holdups and heists designed to pay for the essentials. It was during such a holdup that he met Jesse. He was just finishing up a job when a clerk escaped. After handling the remaining witnesses, he headed out the door to find a tall, and somewhat ominous looking stranger, holding up the clerk by the scruff of his neck. "Sloppy," the stranger said in a stern tone, although he looked as amused as Severen felt.

"Well hell, if you think you can do better." Which of course, the man did. As the stranger's teeth bit down on his neck, he wondered just what he'd give to have that power. Come daylight he had his answer: the sun. Didn't bother him none. Severen learned a lot of things that night, among them, that the stranger's name was Jesse, and that he was traveling with a little boy named Homer. Severen doesn't regret much at all, but asking what a kid like Homer was doing running with Jesse just about made the list.

There were later additions to the family, both women. Jesse came back one night with Daimondback, who was tough as nails, but with a dangerous beauty, much like her namesake. She had a mothering way that Homer took too, and Severen had to admit, so did he. Years later, Homer turned Mae. Sweet as can be, and a very good killer, but she
didn't always think too clear.

Which, of course, was why she turned that good-for-nothing, Caleb. He tried to be nice to that kid, after he found out he was gonna join the family of course. Took him in a little brother. Tried to teach him just what he could be. Trouble was, the boy wanted no part of it. Oh sure, he did good with the police at the hotel. That's when Severen really began to believe the boy had potential, that he could cut it as part of the family. So, he gave Caleb one of his spurs. Then his old family found him again, and Caleb went and ran off with them. The whole Colton clan was nothing but trouble as far as he could figure. Trouble he was going to rectify.

Last thing Severen remembers, he was on the hood of a truck Caleb had hit him with. He was ripping out some wires, when the boy said some nonsense about jackknives. Next thing he knew, he woke up in some apartment, and none of the gang could be found.
